We design, source, and supply electric motor-assisted watercraft and related products across the US and overseas. Our team operates in a lean, fast-moving environment with a focus on reliability, product quality, and strong customer support. We are seeking a versatile Industrial Engineer to help build, document, and optimize the operational processes that support our growth, working in a small, collaborative team.
About the Role
We are looking for an Industrial Engineer who can design and optimize workflows, manufacturing processes, production standards, and overall operational efficiency. This role involves building structured processes for assembly, quality control, testing, packaging, logistics coordination, and supplier interface. Candidates should be comfortable bringing order, standardization, and repeatability to a fast-growing hardware company with evolving production needs.
Responsibilities:
- Process Design & Optimization
- Develop and optimize assembly workflows, production sequences, and manufacturing procedures
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production, testing, and quality assurance
- Analyze current operations to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Create value stream maps, process flows, and documentation for internal and supplier use
- Design workstation layouts, tooling needs, and ergonomic solutions for efficient production
- Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering
- Support the transition from prototype to repeatable manufacturing processes
- Define process controls, tolerances, and repeatable build standards
- Establish quality checkpoints, functional tests, and inspection criteria
- Coordinate with suppliers to align on manufacturing capability, tolerances, and documentation
- Assist in determining optimal batch sizes, takt time, and production cadence
- Standardization & System Implementation
- Build templates, checklists, documentation, and manuals for all production processes
- Implement data-driven monitoring of production performance and quality
- Work with engineering teams to integrate design changes into production workflows
- Support cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and reliability initiatives
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with mechanical, electrical, and materials engineers to ensure manufacturability
- Provide feedback to product teams on design-for-manufacture (DFM) improvements
- Collaborate with suppliers, test technicians, and operations staff
- Assist with field testing, validation, and root-cause investigations when needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- Experience designing or optimizing manufacturing or assembly processes
- Familiarity with SOP creation, workflow documentation, and process controls
- Ability to analyze operations using lean principles or continuous improvement methods
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-growing hardware environment
- Strong communication, documentation, and organization skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Compensation:
- Indicative Salary: USD $65,000 – $85,000 per year (depending on experience and skills)
- Benefits: May include flexible hours, paid time off, some remote/hybrid work options, and equipment/gear allowances
