Job Description & Employee Guidelines

BODYWORK PROCEDURES

Bodywork Dent Removal Process.

1. Read the Repair Order to determine the type of repair(s) to be done.

2. Clean & Prepare area(s) to be repaired with degreaser, one panel at a time.

Wipe on, Wipe off using 2 Rags.

3. Gather appropriate equipment and tools for the repair(s) to be done, based on type of metal and the size of the damage.

4. Grind repair area(s) using 36 grit grinding disc. Grind a 3” radius around damaged area.

5. Pull dent(s) to within 1/8 inch of original condition using a stud welder, studs and a slide hammer. No panels may be drilled. Grind the studs flush with the panel.

6. Apply appropriate dent filling compound i.e. body filler, fiberglass, etc. to the repair area. Using appropriate tools, shape the body filler to appropriate condition (pre-accident) using 40 grit sandpaper on a long board or block.

7. Apply polyester glazing putty where necessary to ensure that all scratches and pinholes are eliminated.

8. Final sand the entire repair area with 220 grit sandpaper on a long board or block.

9. Prime repaired area(s) using a 2k primer. Be sure to mask the area(s) using green paper in a way that will minimize overspray to other areas of the vehicle and not leave a hard edge.

10. Block sand primed repaired areas with appropriate grit sandpaper (320 or 400) to ensure paint line readiness.

Bodywork panel Replacement Process

1. Read the Repair Order to determine type(s) of repair(s) to be done.

2. Gather appropriate equipment and tools for the repair(s) to be done.

3. Replace/Weld on Parts:

Remove all appropriate parts to expose the replacement area.

Drill out OEM spot welds that currently hold the panel in place.

Cut old panel out at points that allow for the best fit of the new part.

Align new part and clamp in place to ensure proper alignment.

Spot weld new part on to the car matching the factory spot welds as closely as possible.

Stitch weld the seams of the new part.

Grind down all welds and fill and smooth the seams.

4. Replace/Bolt on Parts:

Verify you have the right part for the car and have the new part cut in the painter.

Remove adjacent panels as necessary to expose the part you are replacing.

Find and remove all clips, bolts, etc. holding the existing part on the car.

Remove the old part and put on the new part.

Loosely fasten the new part and adjust for proper fit. OEM bodylines and gaps must match.

Once part is properly aligned, tighten down all bolts and reinstall all previously removed clips and parts.

5. Treat replacement panels with corrosion inhibitors.

END OF NIGHT BODYMAN PROCEDURE

Clean all areas.

Clean spray gun in reducer. (Heads only!)

Make sure thinner is in all fluid lines.

EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES

1. Must keep a positive attitude at all times.

2. Work together with the other employees to be sure the paintline is moving at all times.

The following are UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS and are grounds for immediate dismissal: (as stated in Employment Information form)
