Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Saw Cut Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for cutting concrete and asphalt to enable paving and concrete teams to excavate areas, access gas lines, and perform necessary renovation repairs. The ideal candidate will have a clean Class C driver's license, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in high-traffic areas while coordinating with traffic control personnel and city inspectors. The position also requires the ability to operate large aggregate cutting saws and lift up to 50 pounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate large saws to cut asphalt and concrete for excavation purposes, following project specifications and safety guidelines.
Coordinate with paving and concrete crews to ensure proper access to gas lines or other utilities requiring repair.
Work alongside traffic control teams to maintain a safe work environment for both crews and the public.
Communicate with city inspectors and project supervisors to ensure compliance with local regulations and permits.
Transport saws and other necessary equipment to job sites and perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
Keep accurate records of cuts performed, including dimensions, depths, and locations.
Follow all safety protocols, wearing appropriate protective gear, and maintaining awareness of surroundings in busy or high-traffic areas.
Qualifications:
Valid and clean Class C driver's license.
Experience operating large aggregate cutting saws and similar equipment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and project plans.
Ability to work in conjunction with traffic control teams and city inspectors to ensure safe and compliant work environments.
Flexibility to work varying hours, including potential early mornings, late evenings, or weekends to meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in concrete and asphalt cutting or similar construction work is highly desirable.
Familiarity with local city regulations, permits, and safety requirements for public works projects.
Certifications in operating heavy equipment or in traffic safety are a plus.
