About US:
Majorette is a local beer bar / tavern style restaurant near SDSU. We pride ourselves on providing genuine hospitality, and an atmosphere where guests can enjoy a great selection of beer & wine, next to a great food menu. Even being only 1 year old, we are already known for friendly staff, great food & drink, and an easy, no-fuss night out in the neighborhood. We activate our space with special events periodically,
and always have sports on our TV’s, and great music coming through our speakers. We opened our doors after cleaning up this local dive that has been here since the 70’s, and have been growing steadily ever since.
Job Description:
As a line cook at Majorette, you will participate in most aspects of kitchen operations to ensure the efficient and smooth running of our food program. You will be part of a small team of kitchen staff, maintain food quality, and uphold safety standards. Your role is crucial in maintaining the reputation of our beer bar, as a go-to spot for great food & drink in our community.
Responsibilities:
Ensure prep, cooking, plating, and quality is consistent and cooked to standard
Communicate inventory levels and supplies as needed
Assist in keeping kitchen cleanliness to ensure compliance with health and
safety regulations
Prep, Cook, Fry, Grill, bake and maintain standard recipes and portion sizes
If desired, collaborate with management to create and update menu offerings
Take guest and management inquiries and feedback related to food service with grace and understanding
Troubleshoot any kitchen-related issues that may arise during service
Assist in cleaning and maintenance of equipment to ensure good working condition
Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year of kitchen experience, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant
Strong team collaboration and team player-ness
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
Have a valid ServeSafe food handlers card certification, or acquire one before first day of employment
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high pressure situations
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, a minimum of 20 hours/week
