The San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park seeks a Lead for our on-site food service operations. Under the direction and supervision of the Guest Experience Manager, the Flight Path Grill (“FPG”) Lead leads the Museum’s food service operations. The FPG Lead works on a consistent daytime schedule to open the FPG to Museum guests every Saturday and Sunday at a minimum and keep cold items for sale in the Museum Store prepped and stocked.

Duties & Responsibilities
Uphold the Museum’s reputation for excellence by providing a positive dining experience and superior customer service to our guests
Set up the FPG for operation on all scheduled days, making sure all areas are clean and food products are available
Prepare hot and cold food to order in an efficient and safe manner, adhering to food safety standards
Provide direction and support to FPG cashier and food runner
Cover all FPG positions as needed to include operating the POS system, running food, and maintaining a neat and clean area for guests
Ensure kitchen, storage, refrigeration, and guest seating areas are maintained, cleaned, and sanitized in accordance with health code policies and best practices
Ensure all equipment is kept clean and in working condition
Ensure overflow seating is available and inclement weather procedures are implemented when necessary
Purchase food products and consumables in appropriate quantities to meet demand and minimize waste, and ensure product orders are received in correct quantities and appropriately stocked and stored
Collaborate with senior staff to plan and price menu options
Train staff in proper food preparation and cooking procedures
Participate in other activities in support of the Museum
Desired Qualifications
Leadership and food preparation experience in a food service establishment
Positive attitude and ability to lead a small team
Good time management
Attention to detail and presentation
Current food handler’s card
Sales and POS system experience
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
Working Conditions
Work is performed outside and inside in a kitchen that is not temperature controlled. Standing for long periods while cooking and/or cashiering and lifting cases of food and drinks is required. The Museum is a non-smoking, drug-free workplace. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check is required prior to hire.
