Seeking caregiver for 3 shifts a week assisting female with Parkinson’s in the Rancho Bernardo area.
Looking for shifts on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday from approximately 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Pay starting at $20 an hour.
Patient is 70 years old and has had PD for about 15 years and needs assistance being in a more advanced stage. Most days include a morning routine of waking and assisting with morning medications, bathroom assistance, changing briefs and clothes to start the day, & running a load of laundry, followed by assisting with breakfast. Changing of briefs and hygiene pads while in bed will be necessary sometimes, so experience in this area and some physical strength is helpful (patient is light at around 105 lbs); fine with either male or female caregiver.
Following morning routine, good days would include chatting, watching tv/music, coloring/puzzles/games, light exercise, etc.
In down time or days where she mostly sleeps, light housekeeping, tidying up or simple meal/snack prep would be helpful.
Because assisting with activities of daily living will be required, prior caregiving experience is preferred, and prior experience with Parkinson’s or individuals who are mostly wheelchair bound is helpful.
Patient is friendly, has a sense of humor and likes the company of others.
I am the patient’s daughter and am involved with all the caring work and visit/help as often as I can (typically once or twice a week). She lives with her husband in Rancho Bernardo, and he is usually around or near the house so you will not be leaving her alone when a shift is over, and he is nearby if anything comes up.
If interested please respond with some information about yourself, past experience, and your current interest & availability. And then we can arrange a time to discuss on the phone & meet up if it sounds like a good fit. Thank you.
