Hello! I am looking for a live-in position. I will be student teaching (not paid) from Jan-May so I would really like to find a work exchange situation, that if it suited us all well, could become long-term. My hours gone will be 8:25-3:45. So I can help with morning cooking, medications, pet feeding and walking, showering before I leave and the majority after I got back. If appointment rides are needed we would just have to schedule late afternoon appointments. For something that needed a morning drive, I would just have to take the first couple hours off from the school with advance notice. Other driving errands, grocery shopping, etc, can be done over the weekend or in the evenings.
I was a caregiver who stayed overnights for two different seniors, 1 female on oxygen who happened to break her hip and needed extra care while in wheelchair and the other was a male who needed help keeping his medications straight and started off just needing help with paperwork and household duties, but then fell and had a brain injury so needed extensive care while recovering from that.
I was a veterinary assistant for 24 years so if you have pets with extensive medical needs I am very qualified (diabetes care, senior pet care, wound care, surgery recovery, etc). Also have experience with horses and other farm animals. I have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Animal Science with a minor in Equine (horse) Science. So a lot of my medical knowledge really helps out even in the human field as I am very familiar with a lot!
I am great with kids so if you are a single parent that is overwhelmed like I was when I was a single mom, then I can help with kiddos as well! School, sports and activities drop off and pickups. Tutoring & homework help. Cooking, cleaning, etc.
About me: 46 years old, going after second career as an elementary school teacher. I do not do any drugs, not even marijuana. I rarely drink, if I do, it is usually 1/2 a drink. Very mature, get along with everyone, very respectful of keeping common areas clean. Since I am at schools, I have a full background check & am fingerprinted and have absolutely no previous criminal activity. I am a joyful person who usually wakes up happy & positive. I have more energy than most people of similar age. I can handle stress and multiple things and changes with ease. My journey in life has had its challenges, so most things don't phase me like they do others.
I have two dogs, 72 pounds and 12 pounds, both senior dogs, 9+ years old. Great dogs, 100% potty trained, no destructive behaviors, get along with other dogs or give space depending on other dogs social desires. They would be left in my private room/space while I was at work 6 &1/2 to 7 hours per day.
Where: I would like to be within a 20 minute drive of Laurel Elementary School in Oceanside. I love the country and don't mind the dirt or farm animals. But doesn't have to be country-living. Prefer my private space on first floor. I can live in a trailer, cabin, guest house or private room.
