Seeking caregiver for 2 or 3 shifts a week assisting female with Parkinson’s in the Rancho Bernardo area.
Looking for shifts on Tuesday and Thursday from approximately 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. And possibly another shift Friday or Sundays from 8/9:00 am to 12/1:00 pm.
Pay approximately $20 an hour.
Patient is 69 years old and has had PD for about 15 years and is now needing more assistance as she’s now in a more advanced stage of PD. Occasionally she may be able to do morning activities with simple assistance, but more days now require making sure she’s taken meds, bathroom assistance, and changing clothes. There are also days where she sleeps many hours, so these days would require attempting to wake to take medicines, and changing of briefs and hygiene pads while in bed, so experience in this area and/or some physical strength is helpful (patient is light at around 110 lbs). On good days, chatting, watching tv/music, or coloring and light housekeeping or simple meal prep would be helpful.
Because this assignment will involve assisting with activities of daily living, prior caregiving experience is preferred, and prior experience with Parkinson’s and/or individuals fairly bed bound is helpful. Patient is friendly, has a sense of humor and likes the company of others.
I am the patient’s daughter and am involved with all the caring work and visit/help as often as I can (at least once or twice a week). She lives with her husband in Rancho Bernardo near Oaks North golf course, and he is usually around or near the house so you will not be leaving her alone when the shift is over, and he will be nearby if anything comes up.
