Essential duties for Mechanic: Work on Agricultural Equipment like tractors, motors, trailers, and other equipment used in agriculture operation. Duties will include servicing of farm equipment, forklifts, tractors, trailers, vehicles of any mechanical device or equipment used in agriculture. (Diesel and gasoline engines are included.) Duties of mechanics will regularly expose workers to moving mechanical parts. Ability to handle various tools, including wrenches, pliers, drills and heavy equipment. Perform assigned tasks/repairs. Perform routine maintenance work, services and repairs on farm machinery and automotive vehicles (replace fluids, lubricating parts, replace parts, etc.) for vehicle functionality and longevity. Inspect machines for faulty parts, wear, damage, leaks or specific problems that could affect performance and safety. Analyze and diagnose mechanical issues needed for repair. Dissemble and reassemble mechanical components and make repairs. Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicle. Input, track and maintain all maintenance date and records. Worker must possess the ability to regularly climb up and down, on into and out of tractor and trailers; assist with the loading and uploading of vehicles, clean soiled lights, windows and mirrors, add lubricant, oil and engine fuel as needed. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking, bending and lifting. Employer assures it will provide gloves, any tools needed and training in prevention of work-related injuries and no cost to workers. Supervisors will provide instructions and directions to workers. Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals, etc. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Workers must operate equipment in a manner that protects operator, other workers, products, and equipment. Failure to comply with safety requirement and operating instructions may result in termination. Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or trail type shoes. The job requires a minimum of 3 months of prior experience working with equipment, gas or diesel engines.
