The bureau also collaborates on the development and execution of citywide initiatives to help businesses thrive and to activate shared public spaces. In addition, the bureau provides surveying services and maintains the official map of the City and County of San Francisco.Public Works currently has a vacancy for an Administrative Engineer within the Bureau of Street Use and Mapping.As an Administrative Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Bureau of Street Use and Mapping (BSM) to expedite multiple projects in the Public Works’ Infrastructure Task Force's (ITF) large-scale development portfolio. BSM's responsibilities include design review, permitting, and interagency coordination to support the creation of affordable housing. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of San Francisco’s growth, contributing to its resilience, accessibility, and housing equity. Some of our development projects you will contribute to include the Mission Bay neighborhood, Giants’ Mission Rock, Candlestick Point/Hunters Point Shipyard, Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island, Park Merced, Visitacion Valley/Schlage Lock Plan, Hope SF sites, Pier 70, India Basin, Potrero Power Station, and more.Important and Essential Duties:Your duties as an Administrative Engineer may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Manage the review and approval of development area submittals for projects.

Reviewing and coordinating the mapping subdivision process for projects.

Coordinate multi-discipline/multi-departmental review of projects.

After reviewing requests, issue permits for public infrastructure work in the right-of-way.

Planning and prioritizing work on the stages of multiple complex development projects simultaneously.

Serve as primary point of contact between project developers and city agencies.

Preparing technical and administrative reports on development projects, proposed legislation and planning affecting development projects/programs.

Participate in the preparation of departmental budgets.

Compile data and information to prepare draft amendments and recommendations to the municipal code and state legislation affecting engineering activities and development projects.

Prepare correspondence and reports relative to complaints and requests for information on engineering projects and programs.

Minimum Qualifications:Education:Requires completion of a four (4) year college or university with a baccalaureate degree in one of the major fields of engineering.ANDExperience:Requires six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the administrative, design, planning and construction of engineering projects, including two (2) years of responsible supervisory and administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Verification:Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience at any point during the recruitment and selection process.
