Position Summary: The Director, Data Engineering & Visualization, will be accountable for the implementation of the E2E visibility solutions and foundational data engineering solutions for J&J Supply Chain across all segments. As part of this role, this individual would be responsible for delivery of Digital acceleration program to help JJSC digitalization: Enable JJSC bold goals / growth measures across all pillars of SC (plan, source, make, deliver, quality and finance)
Drive end-to-end visualization program by collaborating with Commercial and R&D and SC
Design/develop data solutions for strategic initiatives like Touchless Supply Chain
Shape modernization of data & visualization platforms for all segments
Improve availability and cost efficiency of Supply Chain data like common data layer
This role will be responsible for leading both the data engineering and data visualization teams to deliver the solution end to end. This individual should be familiar with both the backend data engineering concepts starting from the cloud computing infrastructure, data modelling to the frontend visualization tools (incl. latest off-the-shelf products available in the market). This individual will be required to manage the delivery of multiple solutions across the segments in parallel within time and budget.
This role will ensure that the solutions for J&J Supply Chain will work within the architectures, strategies, policies, and standards for our planned products and that the model will lend themselves to scaling. This is a unique role as it requires in-depth technical expertise e.g., data architecture, cloud platforms, real time application solutioning, strategic vision, stakeholder management across segments (Janssen, Medical Devices and Consumer) and strong executive communication skills. This role is expected to build a strong technical team and manage 40-50 people team consists of FTEs and contractors to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Fosters strong partnership with business leaders (e.g. Functional & Segment) to deliver strategic program
Becomes Data and Visualization technical SPOC to segment digital leadership to accelerate digitalization
Brings right engineering practices for software development for data engineering and visualization
Develops data models on common data layer to ensure leveragability and centralization of data models
Develops, builds and maintains the backend and frontend data models required to support our desired E2E Visibility Platform and the solutions built in it
Executes rapid prototyping and iterative design of new products within the E2E Visibility Platform while also supporting configuration of off the shelf “cloud” solutions
Interacts with internal and external analytics experts to stay aware of emerging trends in algorithms and development of algorithms as may be required to realize desired Product features by our customers
Accountable for security and performance of products developed
Build and run best-in-class data and visualization team; Embraces and encourages a team culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation that is supported by agile design and development
Identify and partner with vendors / suppliers to execute in timely manner
QualificationsQualifications A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
A minimum of 10+ years of relevant business experience is required.
Hands on experience in building applications / solutions in cloud platforms like Azure / AWS / GCP
Ability and experience to build and scale-up teams in dual shore delivery model
Experience in constructing a global platform and stack of technologies that supports an extensive user base across time zones is required.
Demonstrated thought leadership with a proven track record of designing Big Data Analytics, Visualization and Machine Learning solutions is required.
Proven leadership across cloud, data, infrastructure, APIs, and front-end technologies is required.
Experience working in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing projects and programs to deliver results on time and within budget, including product development experience is required.
Passion to develop and deploy digital capabilities that delight the user is required.
Big picture mindset with the ability to zoom in and out of details; can balance both technical and strategic demands is required.
Must possess strong interpersonal & analytical skills with the ability to successfully lead & deliver on multiple priorities in a dynamic environment is required.
Up to 25% travel domestically and internationally to and from J&J work-sites to participate in meetings, workshops, company events, etc. requiring overnight stays is required.
Experience of Healthcare industry would be a big plus (needed for fit-for-purpose solution)
