The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) oversees all transportation modes for the City and County of San Francisco, including the San Francisco Municipal Railway(Muni), bicycling, walking, on-street and off-street parking management, and taxis. The Parking and Curb Management section within the Streets Division is facilitating the safety improvements under the Transit Priority and Safety Program and Vision Zero Quick Build Implementation project to support our Transit First Policy.Recruitment ID: TEX-7242-147545APPOINTMENT TYPE:Temporary Exempt:This position is excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process and shall serve at the discretion of the Appointing Officer.Application Opening: June 10, 2024Deadline to Apply:June 25, 2024Salary: $102,934 to $131,872 annuallyNOTE: A driver's license must be attached to the online application.POSITION DESCRIPTION:Under direction, this Painter Supervisor I plans and directs the work of a crew of painters assigned to these projects and work locations. The Transit Priority and Safety Program covers the implementation of improvements such as painting red transit lanes, transit stop zones, and painting related to the installation of transit signs, transit bulbs, new traffic signals, and travel time reliability tool kit measures in coordination with repaving, streetscape, utility, or other City-generated projects. The Vision Zero Quick Build Implementation project involves traffic control measures including painted safety zones, bike lanes, parking adjustments, and traffic lane changes for pedestrian and bicycle safety.Examples of Important and Essential Duties:

Directs daily work assignments of a paint crew.

Prepares formal and informal job estimates, may be for current and future projects.

Prepares and maintain records of time worked and materials expended on assignments and/or projects.

Orders materials and supplies.

Enforces existing methods and procedures relative to quick-build construction maintenance and/or repair activities.

Inspects work of painters in the field or shop.

Assists in the development and motivation of staff through training. Addresses improvement areas and coaches staff as needed.

Monitors and instructs staff regarding safety regulations and procedures.

Meets with representatives of other City departments, outside organizations and the general public in connection with maintenance work for assigned locations.

Uses a personal computer to write correspondence and keep records.

Drives a vehicle to job sites, paint shops, and meetings at various locations.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Nature of Work:Sustained physical effort with considerable standing, bending and occasionally heavy lifting working in confined spaces; and intermittent exposure to hazardous heights and poorly ventilated areas, streets and roadways.Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a recognized painters' apprenticeship program.

Three (3) years of verifiable experience as a journey-level painter, performing work on interiors and exteriors of structures, industrial facilities or components, hospitals, street equipment, playground equipment, airfields streets and roads.

Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California's Driver's License.

Substitution:Additional qualifying experience can be substituted for the apprenticeship on a year-for-year basis.Desirable Qualifications:The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify candidates advancing to the interview process and/or to identify job finalist(s) at the end of the selection process when referred for hiring.Experience in:

Painting streets, curbs, and/or parking lots.

Working in multiple environments; including, but not limited to, railways and tunnels.

Leading diverse teams at diverse communities.

Handling electric power equipment such as generators, lines lasers, and blowers.

Utilizing the Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)

Operating high-reach boom lifts and electric staging scaffolding
