The Vice President of Global Media Relations and Financial Communications will develop and lead an integrated, best-in-class, communications function that meaningfully contributes to Visa’s business strategy and advances the company’s reputation as a forward-looking global technology enterprise.  This leader’s portfolio will include external communications, media relations, CEO and CFO communications, social media/content, financial communications and strategic communications surrounding key product launches.The VP will serve as a strategic advisor to Visa’s Chief Communications Officer as well as the CEO, CFO, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer, and other members of the company’s Executive Committee, helping to navigate and forecast critical business, operational and reputational issues and opportunities. To operate effectively within this complex and high-profile environment, Visa seeks a sophisticated communications leader and proactive business partner.  The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of financial communications, and familiarity with the policy environment and the dynamics of engaging government stakeholders.  They will have the credibility and EQ to engage with different audiences through diversified communications channels and will understand the evolving media landscape, bringing a contemporary approach and mindset to the critical imperative of making human connections.Key ResponsibilitiesThe VP of Global Media Relations and Financial Communications other responsibilities will include:Leading Visa’s external communications strategy and developing plans to enhance the company’s reputation across diverse stakeholders including media, investors, and policymakers among other stakeholders. Creating and implementing an integrated and proactive communications strategy that is aligned with Visa’s strategic priorities and its mission to remove barriers and connect more people to the global economy, enabling individuals, businesses and economies to thrive.Ensuring that the communications strategy also supports Visa’s digital strategy and the company’s innovative digital solutions, which are designed to enhance convenience, speed and optionality as they offer robust security and risk-control.Acting as a strategic and trusted advisor to the Executive Committee, including the CEO and the Vice Chair, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer, providing critical analysis of the reputational implications and opportunities associated with the company’s products, practices and policies in the context of changing regulatory/social/geopolitical developments. Working in partnership with Investor Relations and others to manage the financial communications process, from quarterly earnings to the annual shareholder meeting, and serving as a key point of contact with the financial media.Establishing, nurturing and expanding relationships of trust and confidence with top-tier media and other influencers who shape how Visa is perceived.Ensuring an effective mechanism for crisis and issues management is in place and that it remains current and easily accessible.Inspiring, professionalizing and developing a high performing media relations team as well as attracting top talent to build new capabilities and bench strength.Likewise, encouraging creative risk-taking and innovation and serving as a sponsor to turn ideas into actions.Participating in strategy development, business reviews, and operational planning with perspective on reputational implications and potential unintended consequences.Developing thought leadership platforms that articulate and promote the unique views and business perspectives of key leaders.Partnering with the Government Relations team to protect and advance Visa’s interests on global policy priorities and regulatory matters.Keeping a keen eye out over the horizon for ever-evolving issues and opportunities.Continuously monitoring the overall risk landscape to manage reputational risk.The Person - Key Traits and AttributesResults-oriented leader with experience leading communications in a fast-paced, complex, global environment.Has operated in the spotlight and represented one of the world’s most recognized brands.Seasoned media relations pro with close working relationships with elite business and financial pressExperience in finance, technology and/or payments is a plusHas a point of view and willingness to provide an opposing opinion in the interest of good counsel.Communicates in a human voice and engages with authenticity.Strong business acumen, intellectual horsepower and a bias toward action.
