Description Our client in San Leandro, CA is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of medical coding, compliance, and documentation requirements. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures.Responsibilities:
Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Ensure coding compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for accurate coding.
Stay abreast of changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry updates.
Conduct regular coding audits to identify and address any discrepancies or issues.
Work closely with billing and reimbursement teams to resolve coding-related denials.
Provide training and support to healthcare staff on coding and documentation best practices.
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification required.
Minimum of 1 years of experience in medical coding.
Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software.
