Staff Accountant

Description Primarily Remote (SF Bay Area Candidates) and Part-Time / hourly We seek a Staff Accountant to join our San Mateo, California team. In this role, you will maintain financial procedures and ensure that our property management organization's economic operations are running smoothly. This role will primarily be remote and involve a range of responsibilities, from assisting in preparing financial reports to collaborating with other departments to improve financial procedures. Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation of financial reports and documents, such as income statements, balance sheets, and tax returns Oversee the management of accounts payable and receivable Ensure all financial transactions are correctly recorded in the bookkeeping system Assist with budget preparation and financial planning processes Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information Review, analyze, and monitor accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and completeness Collaborate with other departments to streamline and improve financial procedures Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations Assist with conducting financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsRequirements Possession of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field A minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a fast-paced environment Proven experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations Solid understanding and experience with the General Ledger Experience in making Journal Entries Proficiency in handling Month End Close procedures Familiarity with AppFolio software is highly desirable Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel Must have the legal right to work in the location of the job.
