Cliff Drive Care Center is a faith-based program associated with the Free Methodist Church of Santa Barbara. We are seeking a substitute teacher for all of our programs, infant through afterschool. Applicants must be flexible and comfortable working with children of all ages, (3month-10 years) and have the availability to work 7:30am-5:30pm, as needed, when filling in for teachers who are on vacation, on maternity leave, or out sick. An ideal candidate will be fully engaged and passionate about providing meaningful learning opportunities for all children. They will have great communication skills, with children, families and co-workers. Every candidate must have a minimum of 6 ECE units of college-level courses, in Early Childhood Education. Also an infant toddler class is a huge plus. Applicants must be working on, or be willing to be enrolled in, the remaining 6 ECE units. Cliff Drive Care Center helps with the cost of all Early Childhood Education classes for their teachers. Compensation starts at $22.40-$26.40 per hour depending on education and experience. Cliff Drive Care Center also offers free childcare for your child while you are working providing we have space in their age group.
A Substitute Teacher must be willing to:
Ensure safety, both physically and emotionally, though active supervision at all times.
Follow a comprehensive lesson plan provided by lead teacher.
Exercise strong communication skills in order to communicate with parents, the center director, and coworkers in a clear and concise manner.
Facilitate and plan care and experiences for children both inside and outside of the classroom.
Participate in staff trainings, meetings, and events.
Be an active team member and positive co-worker.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of classroom, resources, and supplies.
Create a positive environment at all times.
Interact with families in a professional, friendly and welcoming way.
Minimum Requirements:
Certificate or AA degree in ECE preferred. 6 Units of Early Childhood Education classes required at a minimum. As well as working on or being enrolled in the remaining 6 units to complete the licensing requirement of 12 Early Childhood Education units.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and TB test.
Ability to pass a CPR Course and other required on the job pre-employment trainings.
Vaccinations as required by State Law for licensed child care facilities (Pertussis and Measles immunization. Flu vaccine, and Covid-19 recommended, but optional)
Willingness to sign a statement of Christian faith
Compensation: $22.40 - $26.40 per hour
