ROLE DESCRIPTION

As an Independent Living Specialist (ILS), ILS provides services in response to participant's needs, interests, preferences, and desired outcomes.

The Independent Living Specialist works directly with people living with disabilities. ILS staff will gather information and create an independent living plan by identifying areas of need.

Based on the plan, the ILS will then help the consumer identify necessary resources by assisting with the completion of paperwork, scheduling appointments, and embracing self-advocacy.

The ILS will receive continuous training to provide the best services to participants.

QUALIFICATIONS

Customer service and communication skills with the ability to maintain a friendly and positive demeanor while interacting with clients and their families.

Reliable. Strong work ethic.

Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Exercise discretion and professional judgment.

Works well under pressure and ability to meet due dates.

Ability to multitask and adapt to many communication styles as needed.

Empathy and patience with humor is most appreciated.

High school diploma or equivalent required, advanced degree in a related field is a plus.

Certifications in First Aid, CPR, and/or medication management are a plus.

Must be able to pass a background check and screening.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule for this position is as needed, shifts vary depending on participants availability and need.
