Looking for a way to make a difference? Fostering a dog is one of the most impactful ways to save lives. For each foster home we find, that’s another dog saved from a shelter, given a safe place to heal while we find them a forever family. At Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, we’re entirely foster-based, and we always need compassionate, committed fosters to keep our mission going!
About Us:
Ace of Hearts is a Los Angeles-based non-profit dedicated to rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters and finding them loving homes. We rescue dogs at the highest risk, often those overlooked or in need of extra support, and we provide each foster with resources and guidance so you’re never alone in helping these amazing dogs.
We Urgently Need Fosters for Axel & Many More!
Meet Axel: Axel is a big-hearted shepherd/lab mix who’s full of energy, joy, and potential! Here’s what you should know about him:
Playful and Social: Axel loves other dogs—big and small—and his favorite games include fetch and tug-of-war!
Anxious in Busy Environments: Axel feels his best in calmer spaces like a backyard or quiet park, away from high-traffic areas.
Needs a Confident, Active Foster: He does well with someone who’s comfortable reinforcing training and working with large, active dogs.
Adventure-Ready: Axel enjoys hiking, beach trips, and other outdoor activities with the right guidance and handler. To help with his training, we provide access to professional support.
Can’t Foster Axel? We always have other dogs needing foster homes. Whether you’re looking for a dog with lower energy or more socialized pets, we’d love to work with you to find a match!
What We Look For in Fosters:
- Age: 21+ (or parent approval if younger)
- Availability: Ready to foster as soon as possible, ideally until the dog is adopted (or at least 2-4 weeks). Short-term emergency fosters are also needed!
- Transportation: Reliable access to vet visits and our MANDATORY bi-weekly adoption events in West Hollywood (every other Saturday at Petco)
- Experience: Comfort with large breeds is preferred for certain dogs, but we have a variety of dogs needing fosters.
- Home Environment: No small dogs or cats for Axel; children over 10 are preferred, and other large dogs are welcome.
Why Foster?
Fostering a dog is incredibly rewarding. You’ll give a dog a safe place to rebuild trust and joy, and experience the fulfillment of directly saving lives. For many dogs, fosters like you are their only chance to heal and thrive.
