Position Overview:

The Operations & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is a newly created cross-functional role that supports a diverse range of needs to help build capacity for Habitat Santa Barbara’s mission of building and repairing homes in Southern Santa Barbara County. The position provides overall support to the organization - internally, by focusing on operations, administration and logistics, and externally, by working with interested homeowners, as well as leading an exciting volunteer program. The Operations & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt career opportunity positioned in Southern Santa Barbara County, and reports directly to the Director of Finance and Operations.

Essential Duties:

Volunteer Engagement

- Recruit, engages, recognizes, and retains volunteers across organization.

- Organizes volunteer activities and assists at job sites as needed.

- Coordinates annual volunteer appreciation event.

- Partners with the Director of Development and Communications to coordinate volunteer/corporate workdays and other group volunteer projects.

Finance & Operations

- Answers phones, supports donor inquiries, and responds to low-income housing inquiries.

- Supports general office and administrative management including organizing and filing, placing orders, running errands, and more.

Home Repair Program Support

- Working directly with the Project Manager of Home Repairs, assists applicants in applying for home repairs.

- Assists with the ordering of building and construction materials, working alongside volunteers, and partners with CEO to support the volunteer Family Services Committee.

- Supports community outreach efforts as it relates to meeting goals of home repair program, including but not limited to volunteers, community partners, and construction tradespersons.

Required Skills/Experience

● Three to five years of administrative experience in a professional office environment.

● Excellent people skills; customer service skills required.

● Ability to adapt to a changing environment and unexpected shifts in priorities.

● Track, manage and follow up on a variety of projects simultaneously.

● Strong communication, including tact and diplomacy.

● Is talented and energized by supporting volunteers and working with community partners.

● Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

● Must have a valid CA Driver’s License.

● Associates’ Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field.

● Be willing to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends as needed.

Working Conditions:

The job includes both heavy work and sedentary work.

● Heavy work. Regular physical exertion, including lifting up to 50 lbs on specific days.

● Sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, little exertion; some walking and standing on specific days.
