WHAT WOULD I BE DOING AT THIS JOB?

We are looking for a full-time (40 hours/week) CADAC /Substance Abuse Counselor to join our Behavioral Wellness team. This position would be non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

Our Substance Abuse Counselors provide services including individual intake, individual counseling sessions, group sessions and other services within the scope of an Alcohol and Drug Counselor. These services include conducting prevention and educational activities, substance abuse assessment, treatment planning, relapse prevention, intervention and discharge planning. This position requires education, experience and demonstrated ability to provide substance abuse assessment and intervention, and knowledge of community resources to best serve the diverse needs of the population served.

WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION DO I NEED?

Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor OR Registration and eligibility to obtain certification as an alcohol and other drug counselor with a California Department of Health Care Services approved certifying organizations. (CADAC)

WHAT TYPE OF SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

1. Minimum of two years of experience providing substance abuse education and counseling services to individuals and groups.

2. Awareness of the cultural and spiritual needs of the American Indian/Alaska Native population.

3. Ability to read, speak and write English and Spanish fluently.
