We are seeking a skilled Lead Carpenter to manage a crew of 3 on start-to-finish stand alone projects as well as defined scopes on larger new builds. The right candidate will balance 1–3 small projects at once, ensuring schedules, materials, manpower, and quality are all managed at the highest level.
This role requires proven carpentry expertise, leadership ability, and excellent communication with coworkers, subcontractors, and clients. As the lead, your knowledge, pace, work ethic, and attitude will be setting the tone for the whole crew.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a crew of 3 or more carpenters
- Complete framing, doors, windows, trim, built-ins, and finish work with precision
- Read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings
- Manage day to day schedules, manpower, and materials for multiple small projects
- Place materials orders and handle take-offs as needed
- Teach and mentor laborers/apprentices toward journeyman level and beyond
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and best practices
Requirements
- 7+ verifiable years of residential carpentry experience (rough & finish)
- Proven team leadership experience - THIS IS NOT A TRAINING POSSITION!
- Strong knowledge of local codes and best practices
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Be willing and able to ask for help when needed
- Organization is a must. Frequent note taking is mandatory for all crew members
- Excellent communication skills
