The San Francisco Elks Lodge is seeking an experienced, full-charge bookkeeper/accountant with at least five years of proven experience to maintain the general ledger of the Lodge and related entities with the following skills, system knowledge and responsibilities:
Performing various accounting tasks, including
Full proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Microsoft Office, Shopify and PC hardware
Records and reconciles the daily receipts from the POS system, CLMS and any other cash/checks of the Lodge
Pays all expenditures and obtains necessary tax forms from new vendors
Conducts monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts which include but are not limited to: All Bank Accounts, Investments, Receivables of the Lodge, Prepaids, Property, Plant and Equipment, Accounts payable etc.
Processes semi-weekly payroll and maintains employee records
Files quarterly sales tax return; annual Business Property Statement Return, annual Workers Comp audit and other required filings with either the City, County or State of California.
Maintains an orderly accounting filing system
Prepares financial reports including balance sheet, income statements and other financial reports needed
Performs as needed various HR duties include onboarding new hires and maintaining all employee related documents.
Updates and maintain accurate financial records, assist in the annual budget preparation, assist with the Federal and State tax filings.
Reports any irregularities in data to management.
Generates 1099's and W-2's
Provides clerical and administrative support to the management as requested.
Has a fundamental understanding of inventory, accruals, US GAAP, and cash handling
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and detail oriented with good work ethic, possessing excellent verbal and written skills.
Compensation commensurate with both role and applicants experience $30-$45/hr range. The position will be on-site at the San Francisco Elks Lodge, 450 Post St, 2M, San Francisco CA 94102. Hours will range, starting at 30-40/hrs a week to ramp up and then transition to 25-30/hrs a week.
San Francisco Elks Lodge #3 is a 501(c)(8) unincorporated nonprofit association and is affiliated with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America, a Fraternal Organization. The San Francisco Lodge was instituted in 1876 and owns 450 Post Street, ½ block from Union Square.
