Property Management Accounting Assistant

We are a local commercial and residential real estate management company in downtown Berkeley seeking a dynamic and versatile Accounting Assistant with room for advancement. Position offered is part-time minimum 3 days per week with growth opportunity. Possibility to become full-time. Offering a collaborative environment, the company is looking for someone for accounting support as well as support the team with administrative projects.

Primary Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Accounting:

Back up for ALL AP / AR functions;

Back up processing about 200 invoices/month;

Weekly check run;

Process tenant rent payments / and other payments;

J/E Coding and posting of credit card expense transactions;

1099 preparation in January;

Main focus on assisting controller with various misc. projects and troubleshoot;

Assist with monthly bank reconciliation for multiple accounts

Maintain vendor and tenant contact list up to date.

Property Management Support:

Backup to processing tenant rent payments / and research other payment issues;

Handle some tenant correspondence and management of routine documents;

Support staff with a variety of projects;

Record and collect insurance certificates;

Input credit check data;

Communicate with on-site property managers as instructed/requested.

The ideal candidate will have strong prior experience in accounting as well as experience in an administrative role in the real estate or property management industry, with a work history reflecting job stability and growth. You are proactive, quick learner, can multi-task, think out of the box, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong writing abilities, attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions and work independently are traits essential to success in this role. Solid proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Email, Scan/Copy, basic admin required.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors Degree preferred plus minimum two years accounting experience required, preferably in real estate or property management

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Intermediate to Advanced Excel (a must), PowerPoint) and any specific software as required. Proficiency in Yardi Voyager, Rent Manager or similar, MRI preferable.

Exceptional organizational skills; able to balance multiple priorities and projects, keeping all team members informed of progress and issues

Ability to work in team environment as well as work independently when required

Must be able to speak and understand and English clearly both verbally and written
