Academic Coordinator for an after-school enrichment program

Squash on Track (www.SquashonTrack.org) is an after school enrichment program for underserved Bay Area youth. SoT’s mission is to promote academic, athletic, and personal growth through a program of squash instruction, academic support, tutoring, and community service. Students are 3rd-7th grade students from East Palo Alto and high school tutors from the surrounding communities.

Students are picked up from school and participate in Squash on Track activities Mon-Thur 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Once at the facility, team members spend an hour playing squash or other physical fitness followed by an hour of academic work either independently or with a volunteer tutor. Students use IXL for personalized math and language lessons and have homework assigned from school. Throughout the year we provide squash tournaments as well as group community service opportunities.

The Academic Coordinator’s primary objective is to ensure the academic performance of the students during the time they are focused on academics. The squash coach designs and manages a physical program and ensures that the players put forth the right kind of effort on the squash court. The academic coordinator manages the academic program.

The Academic Coordinator must be able to:

● Directly coach students with elementary/middle school level math, language arts, and humanities

● Manage a classroom of students

● Manage and support volunteer tutors

● Manage and leverage the IXL software platform

The position is ideal for an educator; either a previous educator, a long term substitute teacher, or a current teacher.

Requirements: Applicants must have at a minimum of 2 years of elementary/middle school teaching experience.

The Academic Coordinator reports directly to the Squash on Track Director of Operations. The program meets (Mon-Thur) 3:30p - 6:30p at Squash Zone in Redwood City.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
