Job Announcement: Art Teacher (Part-Time or Full-Time Available)

Ages Served: 9–15 (Upper Elementary & Middle School)
Start Date: January 5, 2026
Santa Cruz Montessori School is seeking a creative, collaborative, and organized Art Teacher to guide students ages 9–15 in meaningful art exploration. This position may be part-time or full-time, depending on candidate availability and program fit. We are looking for someone who loves working with adolescents and believes in art as a powerful tool for expression, skill-building, and connection.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and lead art classes for students in Upper Elementary and Middle School (ages 9–15)
Introduce students to a variety of media, techniques, and artistic traditions (drawing, painting, sculpture, fiber arts, digital media, etc.)
Create a studio environment that supports independence, creativity, and respect for materials
Integrate art lessons with students’ developmental stages and, when appropriate, with classroom studies
Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support each student and align art curriculum with Montessori principles
Prepare students for periodic showcases or informal displays of student work
Qualifications:
Experience working with children or adolescents in a school, studio, or camp setting
Background in visual arts, art education, or related field preferred
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Ability to create an inclusive, encouraging, and inspiring art environment
