Ideal Candidate StatementThe successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively between multiple departments and multiple levels of personnel. They will have a working knowledge of athletic and fitness equipment as to complete basic repairs and cleaning. They will also be familiar with duties related to multiple athletic venues, such turf field grooming, court cleaning, tennis court cleaning and repair. Furthermore, the successful candidate can multi-task, prioritize projects, and meet mandatory and/or constricted deadlines.Position DescriptionUnder the direction of the Administrator, this position maintains and prepares athletic venues for physical education classes, athletic games, practices, tournaments and equipment. Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain and prepare athletic venues for physical education classes, and athletic games, practices and tournaments to ensure venue compliance with applicable regulations and specifications including but not limited to dry and wet mop gymnasium, fitness centers, other teaching areas; clean and prepare tennis courts, and; assist with pool maintenance.Maintain and administer custodial services to storerooms, locker rooms, athletic training room, gymnasium, work-out and other athletic facilities.Oversee and operate washers and dryers to clean athletic clothing and equipment. Maintain athletic equipment such as sanitizing, washing, marking, storing and issuing physical education equipment and athletic gear.Maintain and update inventory of assigned equipment.Operate and maintain a variety of grounds equipment and tools including push and motor mowers, string trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, hedgers, hand pruners, leaf blowers, chalk stripers, drills, hand tools and other equipment.Oversee and perform minor maintenance and repair work on equipment and facilities such as scoreboards and aquatic equipment and report complex repairs to appropriate personnel.Set up and take down athletic and related equipment including bleachers, chairs and tables in preparation for games, events and classes.Assist instructors and coaches on the daily maintenance and use protocols for athletic facilities and equipment.Maintain and update inventory of assigned equipment.Train and provide work direction to assigned student workers for events and other related activities.Confer with the Dean, coaches, facilities personnel and others as appropriate regarding special requests, equipment preparation and athletic facility needs.Oversee facility on game days and assist with workers for game management during events.Assist with visiting coaches and programs.Monitor proper use of gym and athletic facilities.Serve as back-up driver including operating a bus as requested.Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.Perform other related duties as assigned.Knowledge OfMethods tools and materials used in cultivating and maintaining athletic facilities and fields.Methods and protocols for janitorial work.Management of athletic events/activities.Health and safety regulations.Athletic equipment, materials, supplies.Skill ToEngage in interpersonal skills including tact, patience, courtesy, customer services.Engage in teamwork and collaboration skills.Demonstrate professionalism.Implement self-management and initiative.Engage in critical and creative thinking.Quickly learn schedules and procedures.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
