The Sonoma County Public Infrastructure (SoCoPi) Department leads the way to a safe and sustainable community by planning, building, managing, and maintaining Sonoma County's investment in quality services and infrastructure. Every year, the department manages numerous capital, construction, paving, and road safety improvement projects. Bridge Workers are part of a collaborative crew that works together to improve our community through the construction, repair, and maintenance of bridges, culverts, catch basins, viaducts, curbs, gutters, and other related timber, concrete, and steel structures.

The ideal Bridge Worker has a collaborative work style with a focus on safety and two or more years of experience:

Constructing, repairing, and maintaining bridges, cattle guards, guardrails, steel ties, and walls

Preparing foundations for bridge footing and abutments, constructing sack walls, and rip rapping

Operating air compressor, cutting torch, and sandblasting equipment

Safely working around or operating and maintaining various heavy equipment

Although not required, highly desirable certifications include Articulating Boom Crane (ABC), Articulating Boom Crane with Winch (ABW), Articulating Boom Loaders (ABL), Crane Operator, Lattice Boom Truck (LBT), Rigger 1, Signalman 1, Shielded Metal Arc Welding/Stick Welding, Arc Structural Welding, and use and inspection of Fall Protection for bridge maintenance activities. Possession of a valid Class A driver's license is also highly desired.
