Overview: As a Plan Reader / Estimator Assistant, you will be provided with a valuable opportunity to learn and grow within our estimating team. Your primary responsibility will be to support senior estimators by interpreting construction plans and assisting in various aspects of bid preparation. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in construction estimating while developing their skills and knowledge in the field.
This is a full time onsite position in Santa Rosa
Responsibilities:
Plan Interpretation:
Need to analyze construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to extract key information relevant to estimating.
Assist in identifying project scopes, materials, and resources required based on plan analysis.
Quantity Takeoffs:
Have some experience in conducting quantity takeoffs from plans to determine material and resource quantities needed for projects.
Utilize estimating software and tools under the guidance of senior estimators.
Cost Analysis Support:
Assist in researching and obtaining pricing for materials, subcontractor services, and other project costs.
Learn to analyze costs and contribute to the development of cost estimates for bidding purposes.
Bid Preparation Assistance:
Support senior estimators in preparing bid documents, including cost breakdowns, proposals, and bid forms.
Assist in ensuring bid documents are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
Communication and Coordination:
Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for bidding.
Collaborate with the estimating team to address questions or clarifications related to plans and specifications.
Qualifications:
Relevant experience in construction-related roles, CADD drafting or other related positions where plan reading is a requirement
Good understanding of construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
Strong interest in learning about construction estimating processes and techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
