Bay Area Lightworks, Inc. is a fast paced, electrical and underground construction contractor located in the Bayview District in San Francisco, CA. We are seeking a full time, exempt, Project Engineer / Superintendent to join our team. Your duties will include, but not be limited to: assist Project Managers and other Superintendents/Project Engineers with day to day activities such as supervising and running the field crew, preparing and reviewing submittals, sending in RFI’s, submitting billing, scheduling, coordinating underground work, etc. Your day to day tasks may vary extremely and include many other scopes (see below). The typical workweek is Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or later. Depending on how busy your projects are, you will be expected to work beyond the normal work hours. This position is meant for you if you are hard working, honest, ambitious, dedicated, not scared to get dirty, and are willing to roll up your sleeves to get stuff done.
Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
-Supervising your own field crew of 4 to 6 people.
-Creating a schedule and reviewing it with your Field Site Foreman.
-Reading and understanding Project Plans and Specs.
-Reviewing, compiling, and sending submittals.
-Drafting and sending in RFI’s.
-Job walk throughs
-Ordering Asphalt / Concrete
-Marking and calling in USA’s
-Learning the names of all underground electrical material
-Learning and understanding how traffic signal systems work.
-Learning how all types of trucks and construction equipment function and scheduling maintenance /repairs.
-Purchasing items necessary for your crew.
-Coordinating with General and Subcontractors
-Creating and submitting Purchase Orders and Billing.
-Sending and responding to emails.
-Writing down instructions and keeping a daily log.
-Posting Tow-Away signs at job sites
-Offloading deliveries in the shop with a forklift or by hand.
-Helping load material onto trucks in the mornings (conduits, pull boxes, etc.)
-Wearing PPE at the job site (safety vest, steel toe boots, and hard hat)
-Picking up / dropping off construction material
-Miscellaneous shop work.
-Getting dirty from time to time (exposure to concrete, equipment grease, etc.)
-Loading/Offloading with a forklift
Requirements:
-Energetic and very eager to learn
-Valid CA Class C Driver’s license
-Clean driving record
-English speaking
-Good communication skills
-Good at following instructions/directions
-Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel, Google Docs, Adobe
-Reliable, dependable, punctual and trustworthy
-Fact paced, but works in a safe manner
-Able to work alone with little to no supervision
-High School Graduate (Preferably College Graduate)
Additional Qualifications Preferred:
-Familiar with reading and interpreting project plans and specs.
-High school / College graduate (Preferably in Engineering)
-Experience in any kind of construction industry
-Experience in basic vehicle maintenance or repair
-Clean, neat, and detail oriented.
-Bi-lingual (Spanish speaking)
-Forklift experience.
-Computer Skills: Primavera P6, AutoCad

Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000/year, depending on skills and experience.
