POSITION SUMMARY:

The Office Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the project management team by ensuring all project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders, are processed accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction engineering, project management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

JOB DETAILS:

Request for Information (RFI) Management: Prepare, review, and process RFIs. Coordinate with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to ensure timely responses. Maintain RFI logs and track the status of each request.

Submittals: Review and process submittals for compliance with project specifications. Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and the design team to resolve any discrepancies. Maintain submittal logs and ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

Change Orders: Assist in the preparation and processing of change orders. Review and analyze change order requests for accuracy and completeness. Maintain change order logs and track the status of each order.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence. Prepare and distribute project reports as required. Ensure all project documentation is properly filed and archived.

Coordination and Communication: Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including project managers, subcontractors, and clients. Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes. Assist in the resolution of project-related issues and conflicts.

Quality Control and Assurance: Ensure all project documentation complies with company standards and client requirements. Participate in quality control inspections and ensure all work meets project specifications.

Project Scheduling and Planning: Assist in the development and maintenance of project schedules. Monitor project progress and report any deviations from the schedule. Coordinate with project managers to adjust schedules as necessary.

Budget and Cost Control: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets. Track project expenditures and ensure they are within the budget. Report any financial discrepancies to the project manager.

Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to the project team. Assist in the resolution of technical issues and provide solutions as needed. Stay updated with the latest construction technologies and methodologies.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure all project activities comply with local building codes and regulations. Promote and enforce safety standards on the project site. Participate in safety inspections and audits.

Procurement and Material Management: Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment for the project.

Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. Track material usage and manage inventory levels.

Training and Development: Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff. Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Client Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders. Address client concerns and ensure their needs are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Field Support: Provide support to field engineers and construction supervisors as needed. Conduct site visits to ensure project alignment with design and specifications.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor risk factors throughout the project and implement corrective actions as necessary.

By performing these duties, the Office Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects, maintaining high standards of quality, and fostering effective communication among all project stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction or project management industry.

Strong understanding of construction processes and project documentation.

Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Unifier, Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office Suite, etc.).

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of local building codes and regulations is a plus.
