Locally owned dog walking company with an outstanding reputation for high quality walks and service, has a position open for a dog walker in our Oakland/Piedmont service area. Our company specializes in hour-long off-leash dog walks on the trails of the East Bay Regional Park system. We pick dogs up from their homes, take them out for an hour-long romp on the trails, and bring them back home, tired and happy. These are not neighborhood leash walks. Walkers will be responsible for integrating new dogs into the pack, and transitioning them from leashed walks to off-leash walks. (training provided, but must have some experience in teaching/hiking dogs off-leash). We are a company committed to providing the highest level of service to our clients, and we're looking to bring on a contractor who is committed to providing the same level of quality and service. Someone who's not only passionate and great with the dogs, but who also connects with their parents too, and who our clients really love. Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of the dogs we walk and their families. We are looking to not only hire a dog walker, but someone capable of being an "All-Star" dog walker and that takes a lot of pride in what they do. We've been in business over fifteen years, and our current staff loves what they do, and helps to make a lot of happy dogs and people.
Applicant must:
Love working with dogs, and really be passionate about making a difference in their lives. Understand them and connect well with them.
Be experienced teaching and walking dogs off-leash (even if it was just their own)
Be committed to the highest quality of care and service
Be willing to continually learn and grow as a dog handler
Be able to connect well with clients (dog owners)
Be available to work from 9:00am - 3:00pm Monday - Friday (or part-time M-F, which would only be 3 hours a day)
Have a reliable and appropriate vehicle for transporting dogs (large enough to fit 6 dogs comfortably and safely, i.e. Honda Element, pick-up truck with camper shell, minivan, station wagon, etc)
Have proof of car insurance
Have a cell phone and be easily accessible at all times.
Be available for occasional short new client meetings on some mornings, as the need arises
Not mind getting dirty
Love being outdoors with dogs in any kind of weather (except heavy rain)
Be responsible and motivated
Be able to take pictures of the dogs
extra income available too, if you'd like to board clients dogs at your home occasionally (optional)
Be willing to agree to a criminal background check
Take this job seriously this is a very high-responsibility job.
Bonus qualifications include:
Living in, or very close to territory, is a big plus.
Some experience in hiking on the trails in the East Bay Regional Parks
