Job Description:

Jo's Modern Thai is a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand restaurant in the heart of the Laurel district of Oakland. We provide a unique yet crave-able menu with a full array of thai centric food and cocktails. We are hoping to bring new and trendy dishes to the Laurel District while still honoring traditional Thai flavors. Our menu was curated and we've already been featured on Check Please, SF Chronicle, Infatuation, Eater SF & East Bay Nosh.

We hope to find a passionate Chef who is excited to grow with us and continue our journey of bringing excellent food, service and atmosphere to Oakland.

Menu Development and Execution

Leadership and Team Management

Operations Management

Cost Control and Budgeting

Inventory and Ordering

Kitchen Administration

Quality Control & Food Safety

Collaboration with Management

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Chef or Asian Cuisine Sous Chef in a high-end, high-volume, fast-paced environment.

A Minimum of 5 years as Chef de Cuisine or Asian Centric Sous Chef experience required.

Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with both FOH and BOH.

Knowledge of restaurant operations, including financial management and inventory control is required.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Passion for food, hospitality, and creating memorable guest experiences.

Experience with brunch concepts and familiarity with Oakland’s dining scene is a plus.

Experience with Thai food is a plus.

Spanish Speaking is a plus.
