We are seeking an experienced Head Baker to lead our bakery team in creating exceptional artisanal baked goods. The ideal candidate will bring proven management experience and specialized expertise in challah, artisanal bagels, and pastry production.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of bakery team management experience
Fluent in both Spanish and English (verbal and written)
Demonstrated expertise in producing bagels, challah, and artisanal cookies
Strong food safety certification and knowledge of health department requirements
Experience with production scheduling and inventory management
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of bakers, including scheduling, training, and performance management
Oversee daily production of specialty items including bagels, challah, and cookies
Maintain consistent product quality and standardize recipes
Manage inventory, place orders, and control costs
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and cleanliness protocols
Coordinate with other departments to meet production demands
Handle special orders and custom requests
Technical Skills
Proficient in traditional bagel-making techniques including boiling and baking
Expert knowledge of challah braiding
Understanding of dough hydration, fermentation, and proofing techniques
Experience with large-scale mixer operation and deck oven management
Skilled in recipe scaling and batch production
Working Conditions
Early morning hours required
Standing for extended periods
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Work in hot/cold environments
Position Details
Part-time: 30-36 hours per week
Compensation: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour, based on experience
