Job Title: Lead Bartender / manager

Location: Mad Oak Bar ‘n’ Yard, 135 12th street, Oakland

Reports To: Owner

Job Type: Part or Full-time (Friday and Saturday nights are required)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Lead Bartender who is not only a skilled bartender but also excels in staff management, customer service, is organized and pays attention to detail. In this role, you will lead by example, running point as a bartender ensuring that our bar operation delivers top-quality service while maintaining a dynamic and efficient team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Bartending:

Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with precision and creativity.

Maintain high standards in mixology, presentation, and beverage quality.

Lead by example and actively participate in bartending shifts to set the bar's service standards.

2. Staff Management:

Train and supervise bartenders and bar staff including busses and bar-backs.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages growth and teamwork while holding staff accountable for their work.

Set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.

Create staff schedules that ensure optimal coverage during peak hours.

Lead the team by demonstrating professionalism, work ethic, and a commitment to exceptional service.

A clean bar is a happy bar! Maintain a clean bar while making sure all staff member are doing their part.

3. Customer Service:

Cultivate a customer-centric culture among the bar staff, emphasizing friendly, attentive service.

Monitor and maintain high service standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and professionally.

Train and empower staff to provide excellent customer service and handle challenging situations.

Implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience, such as promotions and special events.

4. Bar Operations:

Oversee daily bar operations, including opening, closing, and side work procedures.

Ensure the bar is well-stocked with quality beverages, garnishes, and supplies.

Collaborate with the kitchen and door staff to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

Previous bartending experience with a strong understanding of mixology.

Proven experience in a leadership role in a bar or similar establishment.

Excellent staff management and team-building skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

Demonstrated track record of delivering outstanding customer service.

Knowledge of beverage trends, mixology, and industry best practices.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe) is a plus.
