Barcha, a vibrant Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of San Francisco’s Financial District, is seeking a part-time Sommelier to join our dynamic team. We seek to develop a curated wine list with a focus on Old World classics and exciting, unique varietals that pair beautifully with our Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience with Old World wine regions and producers
Passion for unique, small-production, and exciting, unique varietals
Strong table-side hospitality and guest engagement skills
Awareness of wine industry trends and ability to identify sales opportunities
Ability to educate and inspire both guests and staff about wine
Collaborative spirit with FOH and BOH teams
Availability for peak service shifts Tuesday–Thursday evenings and weekly staff education sessions
Responsibilities:
Guide guests through our wine list and provide thoughtful pairings
Lead staff wine education once per week
Stay informed on wine industry developments and market trends to enhance the program
Proactively seek opportunities to increase wine sales through pairing suggestions and promotions
Support beverage program development and sourcing, including values for events/happy hours
Maintain wine inventory and proper storage practices
Be a dynamic presence on the floor during peak business hours Tuesday–Thursday evenings
