Job Title: Pastry Assistant

Location: Wildflour Restaurant – 200 Airport Blvd, Ste. 1, South San Francisco

Job Type: Part-time: 30-35 hours per week

Reports to: Head Pastry Chef

Wildflour is a casual restaurant/taproom and bakery serving regional beer, customized charcuterie/food boards, and an array of baked goods. It is an ideal gathering space for customers seeking a laid back, yet inspiring dining atmosphere where they can try unique and creative regional creations. Wildflour prides itself as a family-owned local business supporting other local and small businesses.

The restaurant is expected to soft open February, 2025 – we’d be excited to have you as a part of our launch team!

Job Summary:

Wildflour seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Pastry Assistant to join the team. The ideal candidate will support the Pastry Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality breads, pastries and desserts. This role requires a passion for baking, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the preparation of a variety of pastries, breads, and desserts for in-house sales and catering events

Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes

Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment and utensils are sanitized

Help with the decoration and presentation of finished products

Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines

Assist in monitoring inventory management

Participate in menu development and recipe testing

Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations

Support the Pastry Chef in training new staff members

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a bakery or kitchen preferred but not required.

Basic knowledge of baking techniques and pastry arts.

Strong attention to detail and a passion for creativity in food presentation.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends as needed

ANAB Food Handler Certification

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods

Capability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)

Manual dexterity for precise tasks
