Sous / Event Chef Lead
Production kitchen is in East Oakland (35th and MacArthur)
Events are SF to Woodside.
Must work Saturday and Sunday, be flexible
-Highly developed sense of urgency
-Strong leadership and communication skills
-Driven to provide outstanding food and hospitality
-Will work at the production kitchen as well as lead off site events
-Must be flexible to work nights & weekends according to the needs of the business.
-Food Handlers Certificate that meets local requirements
-Able to stand for long periods of time, lift 50+ pounds, withstand both hot and cold working conditions, etc.
-Advanced knife skills
Accountability
o Self-starter.
o Delegate tasks where appropriate, then monitor, follow up, coach… and if needed, discipline?
o Be hands on. Lead by example. When you’re here, be completely present in the kitchen. You need to follow the same rules you hold your staff to, lead by example.
o Your staff is watching you even when you don’t realize it. Refrain from intoxicating substances while at work. Don’t use your phone casually in the kitchen, unless it’s for work (like ordering). It's understandable you’ll need to use it, it’s a full shift, just step outside.
Menu standards
o Develop new dishes collaboratively.
o Give feedback thoughtfully. Take criticism open-mindedly.
o Ensure consistency of menu items by tasting, inspecting and correcting
o Detailed log of event notes including staff, food waste and quality
Starting wage $25-$35 hour + some tips or $70,000-$80,000 Salary
