UNION SQUARE HOTEL seeking an experienced restaurant GENERAL MANAGER

Union Square restaurant, Tratto, located in the Marker Hotel off Geary Street, is seeking a General Manager. A spirited, bar-driven restaurant serving rustic Italian fare with modern sensibilities, Tratto means the stroke of a pen in Italian, a nod to the neighborhood’s artistic history. A flavorful menu of simple, delicious and shareable dishes coupled with casual, communal-style dining creates a neighborhood bar experience inspired by the Italian happy hour tradition of "aperitivo." Dishes such as house-made pastas and sausages, pizza, seasonal vegetables and seafood are prepared with as little manipulation as possible, ranging from slow-cooked braises to "à la minute" cuisine. Our full bar features traditional Italian cocktails with a twist, house-made Italian Sodas and limoncellos, and beer and wine sourced from the best of the West Coast and Italy.

We are looking for a hard working professional GENERAL MANAGER who is team oriented and has a passion for hospitality. This is a salaried position, reporting directly to the owner of the restaurant and averages 50 hours a week.

Responsibilities include:

Overseeing and directing the daily restaurant operations

Staffing : including but not limited to hiring, training, scheduling, and payroll

Liasing between the Hotel Management and Restaurant Management in regards to facility, banquets, in-room dining and other hotel events/promotions that may arise

Maintaining policies and standards in regards to food quality, health and safety standards, human resources

Being an advocate and leader of hospitality, and harmonizing the team around the restaurant and hotel's mission and values.

Requirements for this job are 10 years prior management/leadership experience, of which you MUST have Hotel experience as well. This manager should have the full knowledge and capability of participating in all roles of the front-of-house (host, server, food runner, bartender). Must be able to carry large trays and lift kegs up to 50lbs. Must have or be able to obtain all necessary certifications including - RBS Training, Sexual Harassment Certification, Manager Food Handlers Certification.
