Adult and Aging Social Worker - English and Bilingual English/Spanish

The County of Sonoma Human Services Department (HSD) seeks multiple experienced Social Workers who are ready to make a difference in the lives of adults with vulnerabilities in our community!

Starting salary up to $53.98/hour ($112,662/year), plus a competitive total compensation package, and an additional $1.50 per hour for fluent bilingual positions!

Adult and Aging Social Workers provide a full range of social services to protect adults who are older, medically fragile, and/or dependent from neglect, abuse, or exploitation; and provide case management services for elders and adults with disabilities who need support to stay safely in their homes and in the community.

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following:

Experience with social work case management and managing a complex caseload

An understanding of Trauma-Informed Care and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) concepts

Significant knowledge of medical social work and mental health conditions for adults who are older

Experience working with populations who are frail, low-income, elderly, and people with disabilities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact with a diverse client population

The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment

Community care coordination, mental health, and counseling experience

Knowledge of development needs across the lifespan and the cycle of abuse

Previous experience conducting home visits with adults who are older and people with disabilities

Patience, flexibility, and tactful communication skills while dealing with traumatic situations

The ability to work within a multidisciplinary framework with physicians, nurses, and behavioral health clinicians

Experience working for protective services, regional centers, hospitals, or in a mental health setting

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook and the ability to learn new systems

A Master's Degree in social work, gerontology, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related field is highly desired but not required

The bilingual positions for this recruitment require English and Spanish skills at the fluent (reading, writing, and conversational) level. Applicants who wish to be considered for these bilingual positions must indicate their level of skill in the required supplemental questionnaire. An examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm the level of skill in this area. Fluent bilingual premium pay is $1.50/hour.
