Recreation Coordinator I - Aquatics

The City of Mill Valley is seeking a self-directed problem - solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, high standards of excellence, and demonstrated commitment to public service and program development.

INTERVIEW SCHEDULE

Round 1 will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, in person.

Round 2 will be schedule for Tuesday, September 17, in person.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Coordinator II – Aquatics Safety is an entry level position that leads the City's Aquatics personnel and provides assistance to the Recreation Supervisor- Aquatics on all related matters. This position also works closely with Recreation Coordinator II- Aquatics on all related matters to support division goals and activities. See CalOpps.org application for list of essential duties.

The Aquatics & Fitness Center is a 7-day a week operation.

Recreation Coordinator I - Facilities schedule may include Saturdays and Sundays and is subject to change depending on facility and supervisor needs.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have significant experience with the practices and principles of aquatics programming and management, as well as presenting conflict resolution and problem - solving techniques. In addition, the applicant will possess previous experience in supervising and managing staff, employee motivation, and team building. Retirement – New employees with no prior CalPERS service or have a break in CalPERS service of 6 months or more: 2% @ 62. New employees who are “classic” CalPERS members and do not have a break in service of more than 5 months: 2% at 55

457 Deferred Compensation- the City offers up to $300/year in matching contributions toward deferred compensation.

Other – the City pays the premiums for a $50,000 life insurance plan, as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Other benefits include free/discounted use of City recreational facilities and programs.
