We are seeking an OT or OT student to work with our 17 year old son who is recovering from a severe traumatic brain injury and who wants to re-learn how to create music using Ableton.
Our son is an extremely bright, philosophical, empathetic and articulate young man who is making a remarkable recovery after being hit by a car while riding his bike. Prior to the accident some of his passions were playing bass and guitar and creating music using Ableton.
We are seeking a caring, creative, talented OT to help him therapeutically re-learn Ableton, and increase his manual dexterity and coordination.
The candidate chosen will get to have direct training and guidance from his experienced Occupational Therapist for how to best support him. This is a great opportunity for a future OT or PT who is looking for more experience working with neurological injuries.
Exact hours are flexible.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:
Direct experience working with people recovering from brain injury (occupational therapy, educational therapy, speech or PT, psychology are all good backgrounds).
Knowledge of Ableton (obviously :-)
Must provide references and pass a background check before starting work
The ideal candidate will also have these interests and personality traits:
An interest in and love of a broad variety of musical genres
An interest and appreciation for wordplay, poetry and creative writing
A great sense of humor
And, in the words of our son “Someone with either Girl Boss energy or with “spiritual/philosophical vibes but with a scientific basis.”
