Job Summary:
The General Dentist is responsible for providing general dental care to Axis Community Health’s target population, and to assist in training the staff in compliance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogens, and safety policies in the dental clinic.

Qualifications:
Licensed as a dentist in the State of California.
Two (2) plus years experience as a General Dentist preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
Ability to navigate electronic dental record systems.
Ability to supervise other employees and interface well with co-workers.
Ability to function independently and as a team member within diverse environments as well as a diverse staff composition.
Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner and demonstrates good judgment.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Public Health or Community/Rural Health Center experience a plus.
Knowledge of current dental practices and procedures.
Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, stems and objectives.
Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Skill in developing and maintaining effective relationships with medical, dental, administrative staff, patients and public.
Knowledge and skills in delivering comprehensive dental care to patients.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervise Dental Clinic staff in absence of the Dental Director.
Assist in training and monitoring departmental staff in compliance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogens, and safety policies.
Participate in staff meetings, and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office work environment (and, in some cases, telecommuting sites). The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 20lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, reaching over the shoulder, reaching over the head, reaching outward, sitting, walking on various surfaces, standing, and bending. Occasional travel to other Axis health centers and other occasional travel will be required.
Equipment: Frequently required to use repetitive motion of hands and feet to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, copier, and other office equipment for extended periods.
Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and signage. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with staff etc. Must be able to speak clearly, understand normal communication, and be understood. Must be able to see clearly and have the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are.
Cognitive: Must be able to analyze the information being received, count accurately, concentrate and focus on the given task, summarize the information being received, accurately interpret written data, synthesize information from multiple sources, write summaries as needed, interpret written or verbal instructions, and recognize social or professional behavioral cues.
Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
