Job Summary:
The role of the Lead Registered Nurse is to be responsible for overseeing clinical nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and supporting the healthcare team in a community health setting. This role involves supervising nursing staff, coordinating patient care, implementing clinical protocols, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Lead RN collaborates with providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to enhance efficiency, patient outcomes, and overall clinic performance. This role plays a key role in staff training, quality improvement initiatives, and patient education to support our mission of providing accessible and comprehensive care to Axis underserved community.

Qualifications:
Current and active California Registered Nurse license.
Must have completed a four-year Bachelor of Science (BSN) program with a degree.
One (1) year full-time work experience as a professional nurse at Axis Community Health.
Minimum of one (1) year experience preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
Demonstrate above average overall clinical performance as both clinic RN and Telephone Triage RN; demonstrate team leadership.
Experience and knowledge of primary care medical services.
Ability to meet requirements of CPR, First Aid and other mandated programs.
Demonstrate clinical assessment skills at the level necessary to meet the job requirements.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to medical care.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with an interdisciplinary care team.
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, and policies and procedures that are necessary for providing quality care.
Capable of researching new methods and principles to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
Proven decision making and analytical skills.
Ability to organize, prioritize and efficiently carry out duties and assignments.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to plan, coordinate and prioritize personnel, activities and responsibilities of the position, with strong employee relations and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds, including a variety of professionals and patients from diverse backgrounds.

Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis departmental systems. Computer skills to include the ability to utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Must be able to use office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, etc.).
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Function as POC for both in-house staff and outside entities as needed and assigned by RN Manager
Work closely with the RN Manager to ensure that Axis nurses individually and as a team function to maintain excellence in provision of patient care.
Assist RN Manager with interviewing process of new RN candidates.
Serve as primary trainer for new hires.
Work with RN Manager to complete initial and annual RN Skills Evaluations.
Assist manager with weekly schedules to ensure adequate RN staffing; contact part time staff to cover for all sick calls and scheduled PTO.
Assist manager with all communication to RN team; lead RN Meetings when Manager not present.
Serve as POC for EHR questions/concerns; troubleshooting; contacting site specialists as needed.
Attend administrative meetings serving as department representative when assigned by RN Manager.

Participate in staff meetings, and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical clinic office work environment (and, in some cases, telecommuting sites). Physical: Occasionally required to carry/lift/push/pull/move up to 20lbs. Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office (medical clinic/office) environments. Rare exposure to dust and loud noises.
