Approximately 15 straight days per month, typically the last half of each month. Switch off with other lead caregiver monthly.
$200 per 24 hours.
Private room provided for caregiver.
Duties:
- assist with basic meal preparation (cereal, coffee, sandwiches, heating up prepared food, etc.)
- Assist with basic grooming including washing face, brushing teeth, applying deodorant. Request shaving face and sponge bathing (in bed) 3 times per week.
- Administer medications twice daily including pills and insulin injections
- Check blood glucose at least twice daily using a glucose monitor on patients arm
- Perform incontinence care including diaper changes for both urinary and fecal incontinence, applying barrier cream to skin, empty out foley Cather bag. Patient should be checked every 2 hours for needing change unless overnight.
- assist patient with basic household activities including sitting up for meals, setting up computer access, watching tv/using remote, listening to records, retrieving daily paper and mail from front door, assisting with using telephone.
- Light housework including hand washing dishes from meals, keeping kitchen and common areas tidy, washing bed linens when soiled, washing clothes when soiled. Washer and dryer available in unit.
- Assist with taking patient to and from doctors visits, which would include maneuvering patient in a wheelchair down a ramp out of the home into transportation coordinated by family.
- Providing assistance with performing exercises and maneuver as taught and directed by home health physical therapy, occupational therapy or home nursing. These professionals should be coming to the home and will be calling the home to schedule.
- Use hoyer lift to lift patient out of bed and into wheelchair until patient is able to do so with assistance.
- Engage in basic companionship and conversation.
- Communicate with family members with any status updates, concerns, or questions. We are available by text or phone any time.
Family will provide:
- arrangement for transportation to and from hospital and clinic when needed.
- Deliver groceries, cook larger meals
- Yardwork
- Arrangement of meds with clear directions, requesting of refills
- All supplies needed for activities noted above (purchasing diapers, gloves, laundry detergent, personal items, etc)
