Weekend Activities Companion for 29yr old live music loving disabled man $33 per hour. Current shift available, is every other sunday 9am-9pm. Will consider a shorter 8hr shift if that is your preference. Additional substitution shifts come available when other staff are on vacation or unable to cover, if you are interested.
Seeking companion caregivers for high energy and very social 29yr old young man with cerebral palsy. Despite being in a wheelchair, he enjoys being active and out in the community every day. Favorite activities include attending live music events, riding the ferry, taking his van to the car wash, visiting ice cream parlors, hanging out, meeting people, and having fun. This position is about companionship, engaging in activities together, and helping him participate in an active and satisfying life.
There is also a healthcare aide portion of this position:
Personal care, feeding meals, showering, dressing, diaper changes due to partial incontinence, and nightly toileting.
There is a motorized lift system in his house to facilitate transfers, so there is no lifting involved.
You must be comfortable with the personal care responsibilities, or you will not be a good fit for this position.
Previous experience is not required, but can be helpful.
The personal care is about 20% of the job
The other 80% is about going to live music, socializing, visiting street fairs and farmers markets, talking to people and engaging socially with the people you interact with during the day. He likes to visit Starbucks just to chat up the baristas! So you need to be naturally social, open minded, energetic, and be enthusiastic about creating fun days together. Its not just a job, its a companionship. You must be outgoing, self initiating, and not shy.
Pay currently is $33 per hour.
Seeking 1 year commitment.
Must be able to pass full background check, and have clean driver’s license. This is a legal W2 type position.
