Conard House, Inc. is a small business in San Francisco, CA. We are professional, agile and our goal is to build welcoming communities and caring relationships that empower people and restore hope. We are a nonprofit organization that specializes in Supportive Housing and Mental Health Services in San Francisco.
The primary duty of a janitor is to assist the Facilities and Maintenance Manager to ensure the cleanliness of his or her designated work areas by completing assigned tasks on time. He/she must know how to use janitorial equipment and cleaning solutions. Practice safe and proper operation of equipment, janitorial products and supplies, and workplace safety and emergency procedures. Ability to come to work on time and be ready for work. In addition, become familiar with safe material handling and Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
Field Operation
Perform janitorial tasks that are assigned. Ask Facilities and Maintenance Manager to explain any questions or concerns about assignments.
Check all the equipment and make sure it is in working condition before using.
Report any work injuries or illness to your supervisor immediately.
Provide temporary coverage at other program sites as needed.
May be assigned to work at other sites as needed, and other job duties assigned.
Ensure cleanliness of work site by performing the following janitorial tasks:
Sweep, mop, all floors, offices and other areas;
Clean window sills and baseboards;
Vacuum, spot clean carpets/floors when necessary;
Clean walls, counters, doors, and stove surfaces;
Transport trash containers to the curb side for pick-up
Transport trash containers back to the basement
Clean community bathroom sinks and toilets
Replace trash bags and wipe down trash containers.
Remove trash and mop back stairs
Clean trash chute, trash room, basement hallways
Clean elevator, mop elevator floor, wipe down door and wall
At the end of each shift, make sure all equipment such as vacuum, mop buckets and rags are cleaned, left to dry and ready for the next shift.
Manually fill out task tracking list and enter notes for daily cleaning reports
Report any problems and equipment malfunction to Facilities and Maintenance Manager.
Practice safe work habits. For example, do not leave janitorial equipment in the middle of the hallway where residents may trip over it.
Before leaving the site, spend 5 minutes walking through the areas you previously cleaned and make sure that you did not overlook any areas.
Leave enough toilet paper and paper towels for the rest rooms and offices.
Be willing to help other team members in how to use janitorial equipment and cleaning products properly and safely.
Assist the Property Manager to make sure the work site is in compliance with City and State Regulations regarding health and safety.
Do not leave before the end of work shift. If not busy, clean baseboards, banisters, handrails and cleaning equipment and janitorial closet, or ask for assignments from Supervisor.
Smoking inside a building is prohibited in San Francisco. Please smoke outside during your break times.
Maintain professional and courteous conduct to Program staffs, residents and other Conard House employees. Avoid confrontation and disagreements with them. If there is a problem occurs on the work site, please call the Property Management immediately.
Attend monthly crew meeting as scheduled.
Participate in program sites review of health and safety procedures and participate in annual agency health and safety training as assigned.
Enter worked hours into the ADP timesheet software in an accurate and timely manner
Qualification
- Previous janitorial experience as a janitor.
- Be willing to be trained
- Able to work well with others in a team setting.
- Able to communicate and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Careful attention to details.
- Punctual and ready for work. Dress appropriately for work.
- Be professional and courteous.
