Opportunity:
We currently have an opening in our Oakland Office for a Litigation Assistant. This position is a mid-to-high level position; ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of current legal and secretarial experience, with responsibility for supporting litigation matters. Qualified candidates should excel in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, be able to effectively prioritize competing priorities, demonstrate flexibility and independence, and have strong oral and written communication skills. They should be able to work on a variety of projects for various attorneys simultaneously.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing, proofreading, technical, and administrative skills. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat and familiar with both state and federal court systems.
Key Responsibilities:
The position’s essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Provide litigation and secretarial support
Assist with billing and tracking of invoices
Maintaining attorney calendars
Scheduling meetings and appointments both internal and external
Filing pleadings with both state and federal courts
Tracking court deadlines
Opening new matters, including following the firm processes related to conflict checks
Creating and maintaining client files
Drafting correspondence and memorandums to clients and the courts
Preparation of and the review of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests for errors and formatting
Track, organize, and process reimbursements for attorneys
Other secretarial and administrative tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications:
A minimum of a high school diploma and/or its equivalency.
At least five years of litigation and secretarial support experience.
Current and regular experience with both California civil litigation and federal court systems, including the ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems).
Familiar with civil litigation and federal pleadings, including document management, drafting, and revising pleadings and discovery.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.

Compensation and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is the hourly equivalent of $80,000 – $110,000 annually. Redwood Public Law will consider a variety of factors in determining final compensation, including other skillsets, qualifications, and experience, among others. Redwood Public Law offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, dental, long/short term disability and 401k.
