Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an experienced litigation paralegal. The candidate will be an excellent communicator, able to learn, and capable of handling a busy workload in a laid back yet highly professional environment. This is a full time, on site job. We are looking for someone who is able to hit the ground running with lots of energy and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate will have a good deal of background knowledge in litigation, including discovery and pleadings. This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Palo Alto, CA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with discovery, including editing, batestamping, and numbering
Preparation and editing of attorney-drafted pleadings
Verifying proper citation on documents
Assisting with legal and public record research using Westlaw and CEB
Online legal filings using Swift Attorney Service or other courrier service
Preparing documentation for court filing including organizing probate and conservatorship petitions
Subpoenas
Service of process and notices of hearing
Assisting with legal letters, organization of files
Calendaring deadlines, including filing deadlines, statutes of limitations
Assisting with conflicts checks
Work Requirements:
On-site presence required at our Palo Alto, CA office five days a week.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications:
Paralegal certificate or degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent law firm experience.
Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in trusts & estate litigation or equivalent experience at a law firm. Separate litigation experience with cross over trust or probate adminsitration skills will also be considered.
General familiarity with probate and conservatorship procedures preferred.
Familiarity with Calfornia Rules of Civil Procedure preferred.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document preparation tools.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Notary public certification (optional).
Knowledge in trust adminstration, probate, conservatorships a plus
Tax or financial knowledge a plus
