Haddad & Sherwin LLP, a nationally prominent downtown Oakland civil rights law firm, seeks part-time legal assistant, 20 to 24 hours per week. Must be organized, detail-oriented, and flexible. Must be emotionally mature and have a strong work ethic, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Law office experience strongly preferred. Office is scent-free.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. Must have pleasant and professional phone voice and etiquette.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
Check email, individual voice mail, and general voice mail, take messages and convey messages to appropriate person in the office
Handle all deliveries to office
Screen potential new cases
Complete scanning and filing process and file physical and electronic documents
Create and maintain paper and electronic case files
Download and organize documents produced by opposing counsel or court
Answer telephones and route telephone calls to appropriate person
Create legal binders
Print and update case and file labels, keep case binders updated as records are obtained
Create court copies of filed documents as needed
Perform document production projects as assigned
Deliver documents to courts and opposing counsel, and travel to pick up documents as needed
Update legal library
Organize server and Dropbox files
Manage and store files in closed cases
Create exhibits and demonstrative aids as assigned
Post focus group ads, screen focus group jurors
Oversee large print jobs as needed
Research and other administrative duties as assigned
Keep truthful and accurate contemporaneous time records
Facilities Management —keep shared kitchen area tidy; take out recycling and garbage bins weekly, and bring empty bins back into office; stock paper products in kitchens and bathrooms; stock office supplies; keep shared office space stocked and organized
