Part-time Probate Paralegal
compensation: $50-75/hr., depending on experience
Looking for a part-time Probate paralegal for a small trusts and estates law firm in Walnut Creek, CA. This position requires this paralegal to handle all aspects of Probate administration cases, under the supervision of the partner in charge of the firm's probate practice. Seeking a person who is flexible as to hours and appreciates the opportunity to work independently, with the vast majority of tasks designed for working remotely. Employee must be organized, detail-oriented and have very good verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements:
5+ years experience working as a California probate paralegal;
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required;
Comprehensive experience working on all aspects of probate proceedings, almost exclusively representing the personal representative of the estate throughout the Probate proceeding; and
Computer literacy and familiarity/fluency with Adobe, Excel, Microsoft Office, and Outlook.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Drafting and filing all Probate pleadings, from the Petition for Probate through the Final Petition and discharge of the Personal Representative.
Communicating regularly with Personal Represenative client, estate beneficiaries, creditors, firm's vendors and other interested parties.
Organizing and filing of Probate pleadings (in electronic/digital and manual case files).
Managing and executing document preservation and litigation hold notices.
Calendaring Probate court hearings for attorney.
Identifying and completing periodic tasks re: management of each case, documenting notes in case management system.
Entering, managing, updating calendar as to court hearings.
Providing notice to agencies required to receive notice.
Preparing summary accountings when required.
Assisting clients with bond applications when bond is required.
